Aldershot Town v Manchester United
Carling Cup Fourth Round
Tuesday 25th October 2011 Kick Off 7.45pm
The Board of Directors would like to thank Shots supporters for their patience in awaiting confirmation of details regarding the Carling Cup Fourth Round tie versus Manchester United.
This is an unprecedented game in the Club’s history and is of a magnitude necessitating reflection, planning and consideration of extra-ordinary issues.
Of paramount importance is crowd safety recognising that we will be at maximum capacity that evening. Also of importance is that we provide the opportunity to core, loyal supporters and sponsors to be at the match.
This is an opportunity to showcase what Aldershot Town Football Club is all about – professionalism, passion for our club, warmth of our welcome towards the opposition and the quality of our football.
Since the draw we have adopted an iterative process of consultation with a range of Interest Groups to hear their respective views and to bounce ideas off them.
A lot of discussions will remain ongoing especially with the local authorities. Information, therefore, will be released progressively as decisions are taken and finalised.
The most urgent information that supporters are seeking is with regards to ticket prices and prioritisation of availability.
In arriving at the ticket prices the factors that we have taken into consideration are the following:
- The stage of the Carling Cup competition (last 16) and the stature of the opposition- arguably the biggest club side in the world.
- The formula dictated by The Carling Cup means that from each ticket sold there are deductions of 20% VAT, substantially increased operating costs and allocations to the Football League and to Manchester United. The consequence is that the revenue received by us for this match at the prices stated below will generally be less per ticket than we would receive for a Home league match.
- The need to put in place a pricing structure which is felt fair by supporters, especially those who have the longer term interests of the club at heart.
The following prices have therefore been agreed with Manchester United:
Seating: Adult £19 Over 60/U16 £15
Terrace: Adult £17 Over 60/U16 £13
The club has also consulted with supporters and listened to their views in order to arrive at a purchasing strategy that offers the best opportunities for genuine supporters to purchase tickets for this historical game. The following priority purchasing system will be in place:
