A Leicestershire football team is putting together an all-star side for a match to help raise money for a former player's charity.

Hinckley United defender Matt Gadsby, 27, collapsed on the pitch during a game in September 2006 and later died.

Former professional players such as Peter Shilton and Matt Le Tissier will take part in the game held at Hinckley United's ground on 1 April. All money raised from the match will go to the Matt Gadsby Appeal.

Dave Rich from Hinckley United said they were receiving good support from the footballing community.

"Matt Le Tissier has confirmed he'll be playing in the game and we've also got Peter Shilton, Paul Parker, Steve Hodge and Matt Elliott.
"We've had a lot of verbal confirmations and telephone calls and I think we've really pulled at the heart strings of former professionals who have agreed to come down," he said.

Mr Gadsby collapsed on the pitch 25 minutes into a Conference North game at
Harrogate Town's Wetherby Road ground on 9 September 2006. More than £30,000 has so far been raised for his family
