20-year-old former Aldershot centre-back Doug Bergqvist will begin his Exeter City career on loan with Welling.
Speaking to his clubs official website, Paul Tisdale said: "We couldn't afford to bring another young player in, but to be able to tie it in with a loan to Welling until January means that we've been able to bring another good young player into the ranks with potential.
"He won't be available to us until January - that arrangement was made over the weekend when we were completing the signing.
"It seems a sensible thing to do - it gives us an opportunity for him to join us in January potentially, whilst playing some Conference football along the way."
