Fans of Aldershot Town FC and Farnborough Town FC are used to competing for bragging rights on the football field, but on Sunday 4th September 2005, they will get their chance to do it on a cricket pitch, thanks to "The Rushmoor Rumble 2005", sponsored by World Wide Carpets.
The event, in aid of the Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice, will see Shots supporters take on Boro Supporters in a 30-over cricket match at Aldershot Cricket Club. Local footballing heroes Jason Chewins and Jamie Horton will turn out for the Shots and Boro sides respectively.
Supporters who wish to participate are invited to bid for their place on the team, by way of a pledged donation of money for the Hospice. The minimum pledge is £20, and the eleven highest bidders from each set of supporters will be invited to play in the event alongside the two footballing legends.
Cricketing ability is not important, and participants will enjoy the same amount of playing time, in what promises to be a great day of fun for all involved. Both football clubs are supporting the event, with Chairmen, Managers and Players in attendance during the day.
Bids can be submitted either by post, to:
"The Rushmoor Rumble"
c/o 101 Roberts Road,
Aldershot,
Hampshire,
GU12 4RB
or by email to:
rushmoorrumble@yahoo.co.uk.
All bids must be submitted by midnight Sunday 21st August, and the successful supporters will be contacted after the bidding has closed. All bids should include the sum being pledged, name and address, contact telephone number and where possible an email address.
Anyone wanting further information can contact the organisers via the pledge addresses.
Full details and updates will be posted on the Rushmoor Rumble page, which can be found here.
Please dig deep and help support a worthwhile charity and take part in a fun event alongside two local football greats.
With thanks to Simmotino.
