Dalai Lama To Visit The EBB Stadium

Following on from recent media announcements Aldershot Town Football Club is delighted to confirm that the Dalai Lama will be visiting the EBB Stadium on Thursday 21 June 2012. 
The spiritual leader of Tibet, His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, Tenzin Gyatso will be conducting a talk as part of his eight-day UK tour. The other two venues in England he will be visiting are the Royal Albert Hall in London and the Manchester Arena, the largest indoor arena in the European Union.
Speaking on behalf of the football club Associate Director Richard Petty said, “This is a huge honour not just for the football club but for the whole Town that the organisors BCCUK have managed to secure this visit. We are very proud to be the venue for such an important occasion

“To make this wonderful event even more beneficial for his followers and anyone else who would like to attend the whole of his talk will be delivered in English.”
The Dalai Lama is a Buddhist monk who was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1989 for his non-violent struggle for the liberation of Tibet. He also became the first Nobel Laureate to be recognised for his concern for global environmental problems. Since 1959, he has received more than 84 awards, honorary doctorates and prizes in recognition and has also written more than 72 books. He has travelled throughout the world spanning six continents meeting presidents, prime ministers and crowned rulers of major nations.
The event has been organised by the Buddhist Community Centre for the UK (BCCUK). Tickets for the talk have been announced at £30 seating, £15 terraces whilst opportunities are available  at £100 in the Hospitality areas.
