Supporters of Aldershot town have funded over 1000 tickets for young fans from local schools and junior football clubs to attend a league match at the EBB Stadium thanks to the efforts of theunofficial Fans-Matter group led by match-day announcer Mark Taylor. The initiative for the Eagle Radio sponsored Kids for a quid initiative will see the club offering tickets to under sixteen`s for the next home npower League match against Bradford City (17th March) and the April fixture versus Dagenham and Redbridge with the club`s regular supporters paying for their tickets.

A total of £2500 has now been raised or pledged including £850 which was donated through bucket-collections at the recent home fixture v Barnet. There were also further offers of support from many of the club`s corporate sponsors which should see the totals rising further.

Mark is now hoping that 550 young people along with adult-supervisors attend both matches making a total of over 1000. He said `This club was reformed by fans and once again they have shown their loyalty. It was amazing to get so many donations and even Barnet fans were throwing cash-in when they heard what we were collecting for’.

Eagle Radio Managing Director and Aldershot Town supporter Paul Marcus has been working-closely with the club`s officials and explained how the tickets will be distributed to potential supporters of the future. `The club have been really positive about the initiative
and because they work so closely with schools and youth-football teams have offered to distribute the tickets which is a huge help.’
