Aldershot Town’s close season troubles look set to continue this week after the club announced they would be sending a Youth side to face our neighbours in the preseason friendly on Tuesday 23rd July 2013.
In a move you could hardly make up, the club announced this week that they would be sending the First Team to take on Staines Town on the same evening, leaving the derby game against Farnborough up to the Youth team.
Following the decision, the local media has reported that Farnborough Football Club are now seeking damages for failing to honour the transfer agreement which saw Bradley Bubb joining The Shots in 2011 where two friendlies were agreed as part of the deal.
In their claim, ‘Boro are reporting that the original sales contract for the transfer stated that Aldershot must take a full first-team - featuring at least nine first-team players - to Cherrywood Road for two successive years with both matches played on a Saturday afternoon – yet with just five First Team players on their books, three of them being last season’s youngsters, it’s hard to see how such a deal could have been honoured in any case.
As yet, there is no official announcement on either of the two clubs websites.
