We hope you are paying attention at the back - the Tamworth fixture is back on!
As announced on the Tamworth site:
Tamworth's Conference home match against Aldershot on Tuesday night at The Lamb has been 'salvaged' and will go ahead ... but only after strong representations and negotiations.
The club, already under pressure from fixture congestion, was in disbelief late on Wednesday to learn that Aldershot had been ordered by the Hampshire FA to play a county cup tie on the night they were due to visit Tamworth.
Although Aldershot indicated they wanted to give priority to th Conference match, they said the situation was out of their hands.
After discussions with Aldershot and Hampshire FA, Tamworth general manager Russell Moore took the issue to the FA and pleaded the case with Graham Noakes. These protracted negotiations continued beyond 9pm on Thursday night.
Mr Noakes promised to get back to the club before lunch time Friday which he did and confirmation has been received from the FA as well as Conference head of operations John Moules, that Tuesday's Tamworth-Aldershot Conference fixture will go ahead as scheduled (7.45pm).
and rather more diplomatically on www.theshots.co.uk
Both Aldershot Town Football Club and Tamworth Football Club stated their commitment to fulfilling this fixture on the original date and we are grateful to the Hampshire FA for their consideration in agreeing to changing the date of the Hampshire Senior Cup Quarter Final at Eastleigh to accommodate our league fixture at Tamworth.
A new date for the Eastleigh fixture will be announced in due course.
We also apologise to our supporters who have been inconvenienced with the date changes of this fixture this week but hope that you understand the difficulties we have faced regarding this situation.
