Tracy Marlow, who is pictured as Mz August and plays as a striker for the club says: "Cancer has affected us, our fans, our families and our friends in one way or another, it results in one in four deaths every year. We wanted to do something together as a team to help raise further funds for research that had a tangible outcome.
"Help for Heroes is a non political charity who help and support injured soldiers. These soldiers, many of them local, are simply ordinary people doing an extraordinary job. These men and women risk everything and are very brave. We hope these funds will go towards building Army Recovery Centres which provide a launch pad for seriously wounded or long-term sick soldiers."
Matt Leary, who is responsible for the PR and marketing of the calendar and who has been a part of the backroom staff at the club for nearly three years, added: "Both of these charities have significant meaning to Aldershot Town FC as a whole. We recently lost our club chairman, John McGinty, to cancer, and of course Aldershot is synonymous with the British Army."
Aldershot Town FC's EBB Stadium has been the location for the shoot throughout September, and the club are proud to support these two worthy charities.
The footy girl's calendar will be available to buy on line at www.footygirlscalendar.com as well as through and will also be sold at home games, and various Help For Heroes and Cancer Research UK events.
