The 1978/79 Aldershot team is hailed as possibly the best ever in the history of Aldershot FC (1926 to 1992).
The epic FA Cup run of that season is still fondly talked about to this day.
Six of that special team have confirmed their attendance whilst there is a possibility that the list may be added to. Those who will be present are Murray Brodie, John Dungworth, Glen Johnson, Joe Jopling, Alex McGregor and Alan Wooler.
Members of the popular late Coach John Anderson's family have also been invited as guests. There will be representation from the football club too with manager Dean Holdsworth and assistant Matthew Bishop attending too.
The run which saw the club seconds away from a quarter-final place was eventually ended after giant-killing performances against Swindon Town and Sheffield United before two memorable matches against Shrewsbury Town.
Deliberately the event has been planned to coincide with the visit of Shrewsbury Town this Saturday afternoon in order for those players to attend the match too. Further details of this will be announced on the clubs official website during the week - as well as on this site.
In addition to a two course dinner, there will be live entertainment along with special player appearances from those players involved in the cup run. There will also be an auction of football and in particular some rare Aldershot football memorabilia past and present before Alan Mullery takes centre stage. The former England international made over 700 first class appearances for Fulham and Tottenham Hotspur netting 72 goals from midfield. With Tottenham he won the FA Cup (1967), League Cup (1971) and UEFA Cup (1972). He also managed Brighton and Hove Albion, Crystal Palace and QPR.
