Speaking to the clubs official website, Chief Executive Peter Duffy said: "Our explicit aim is to assemble a Board with the capabilities and commitment we need in order to grow and sustain our Football Club long into the future.

"It is essential that we understand how best to meet the needs of the Media Industry and how to be effective in the Industry to create new revenue streams and to enhance the Club’s reputation.

"

Of particular concern is how we can generate revenue to help us get through an extended Close-Season next year. Mike has the capabilities and personality we need and I am delighted to welcome him to work with us.

"Mike being with us will also have the benefit of helping us to continue to attract other people to the Board, which we continue to work at and will provide further update on in due course.”

Mike has a wide-ranging portfolio including working for London Weekend Television and Decca Records, producing international performers including Shirley Bassey and the Rolling Stones, co-ordinating the careers of artistes such as Rick Wakeman, Rolf Harris and Linda Lusardi through to launching the original campaign that created The Smurfs. He has an extensive and impressive background in the entertainments business and was also responsible for the discovery of Adam and the Ants and Bobby Davro amongst others.

In addition to a keen interest in classic cars Mike has also been heavily involved in youth football for over 40 years. He is chairman of Oxshott Royals, a club of 26 teams between the ages of six and 18 and responsible for in excess of 400 players. He is married to former Tiswas presenter Sally James and they have three children. He also has a 36 year old son who is heavily involved in the music business.

Previously a Director with Kingstonian FC when they were in the Conference Mike also received the Surrey FA "Outstanding Contribution to Community Football" award presented by Premiership Referee Mark Halsey last month.

Upon his appointment Mike said: "I have been around the club for a period of time and was a Patron last season. I have been particularly intrigued by the enthusiasm especially from the likes of Nicky Banger and I am looking forward to being able to help the football club as it moves forward utilising my own business experiences and knowledge."
