Aldershot Town Supporters Trust Chairman has told the Aldershot News that he is hoping that the new club Board will find space at their table for the Shots Trust.
Speaking in the local media today, Trust Chairman Terry Owens said: “The Shots Trust will be having meetings with Shahid [Azeem] hopefully prior to our Trust AGM which is being held at the EBB Stadium on Wednesday July 31.
“It is our wish that on behalf of the 800-plus membership and all our supporters in general, we can achieve a seat on the board of directors alongside Shahid, John [Leopard] and Tony [Knights].
“I believe there’s a strong possibility that this could happen but honest discussions need to take place to enable the process to make this target achievable.”
Having raised over £60000 from supporters in donations to help prevent the club from being liquidated, Owens believes that the act will hold the Trusts bid in good stead.
“I would like to thank from the bottom of my heart all the supporters who have donated to the Shots supporters donations,” he added.
“The funds raised could help towards getting us a seat on the board of directors alongside the wishes of the Shots Trust membership and the board of directors.”
Although Owens has suggested that a seat on the Board is desirable, the issue would certainly need to be raised with the membership as any such move may or may not be in the Trust's best interest depending on the full circumstances.
