Ex-Aldershot player Louie Soares made his first return to the EBB Stadium in an opposition shirt on Saturday afternoon as Kevin Dillon's side ran out 1-0 winners against his new club, Southend United and speaking to The Stray Shots after the match, the former Shot said: "It was nice to return here today and great to see some of the lads, they gave me a lot of banter in the tunnel before the game!
"It was all in good spirits though and the supporters are always good here [at Aldershot] so the only disappointing thing from my point of view was the result. "I said earlier in the week that I didn't know what sort of reception I would get when I came back and it was a fairly quiet one so I was happy with that. "I enjoyed my time at Aldershot and I was here for quite a few years but I've got a new challenge now with Southend and I'm enjoying myself there. "I can see both us and Aldershot doing well in the league this season, we're both passing sides who like to play football so it would be nice to see both the clubs up there at the end of the season and I send my best wishes to everyone here and thank them for their support while I was at the club."
