Pre-Season Friendlies

Last updated : 12 May 2011 By The Shots Trust

Five first-team fixtures have been planned as the club prepare to embark on the 2011-12 season with all but one taking place at the EBB Stadium.

First off on Tuesday 12th July, manager Dean Holdsworth will be taking his side to Conference side Tamworth - Alex Rodman’s previous club, who despite a difficult 2010-11 campaign, managed to retain their Conference status by three points.

Four days later [on Saturday 16th July], AFC Bournemouth make the short journey up from the coast to visit the EBB Stadium – possibly as a Championship side, having reached the finals of the League One play offs this season, so we wish them the best of luck in their efforts in gaining promotion in the coming weeks.

Moving on another four days [to Wednesday 20th July], and former Premiership club Charlton Athletic visit north Hampshire, and although the League One side had a comfortable mid-table finish this time round, will almost certainly be looking to improve their efforts once the new season gets underway.

The Shots face their toughest test three days later [on Saturday 23rd July], when FA Cup Finalists Stoke City make the trip down south, for a mouth-watering tie against Premiership opposition.  The fixtures conclude three days later [on Tuesday 26th] when there is more League One opposition – this time in the form of Brentford, who finished just outside the top ten, who will be making the short trip to the EBB Stadium to round of our preperations.

The League Two campaign gets underway on Saturday 6th August.
