The Aldershot News has reported that Luther Blissett, who manages a Celebrity XI will be bringing his side to North Hampshire for the match on Sunday April 9 against a Shots team which includes former stars such as Gary Abbott, Mark Butler, Colin Fielder and Jason Chewins.

Who knows, perhaps even current management duo Terry Brown and Martin Kuhl donning their boots?

“It's going to be a great day. It's all about getting the people in and putting a show on to make some money for these good causes,” Blissett said.

“I'm looking forward to coming back to the Rec, I'm sure I've scored a goal or two there before and we'll definitely be going out to win.”

For the celebrities, presenter Jonathan Wilkes is signed up to play along with ex-Shot MC Junior Harvey and Coronation Street star Tommy Craig.

There is also the chance for one lucky supporter to win a place in the Shots XI by bidding for the position. The auction is up and running and closes on April 4.

To make your bid see www.theshots.co.uk or call secretary Andrew Morgan on 01252 320211.

In other Shots news, goal-keeper Nikki Bull will be officially opening the 2006 Logan's Run on Sunday at the Rushmoor Arena, in aid of the Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice.

The day starts at 10.30am with two races taking place, one a four-mile run or a 1000 metre Fun Run.

The race is held in memory of Ian Logan, a popular athlete from the AFD club who died aged 41 in 1997.

There will be a late registrations desk on the day at Rushmoor Arena. Entry is £7 adults and £4 for those entering the Fun Run.

Application and sponsor can be downloaded at www.phyllistuckwellhospice.org.uk.

The Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice makes no charge to its patients and currently requires £3.5million per year to operate.
