The club is delighted to inform supporters that as things currently stand we are highly confident that the Barnet game on Boxing Day will go ahead as planned.
The recent bad weather has of course had an affect around the ground and it is true that considerable work needs to be done around the non-playing area in order to ensure the safety for our supporters. Wednesday sees a number of volunteers and staff coming in armed with shovels and brooms to clear the terracing and to lay some of the considerable amount of salt that we have stockpiled ready for this sort of event, we also have a gritter coming in to lay grit on the internal road and car parks.
Some people may be surprised to see over the next few days that we will be doing nothing to clear the snow off the pitch this is intentional it is because we want to leave it on for as long as possible as the snow in fact acts like a blanket and is preventing the ground underneath from freezing, subject to it not thawing beforehand we intend to clear the snow off on Boxing day morning.
Because of this decision we would be very grateful for any assistance on Boxing Day morning to come and sweep the pitch and to do any last minute sweeping of other public areas to ensure that the game goes ahead and that all our supporters can enjoy our last game of 2009. If you can turn up then please come along any time after 8am (the earlier the better) if you can please bring a broom and/or shovel to use.
If you would like any further information on how you can help then please do not hesitate to contact the club on 01252 320 211.
