Former QPR striker Graham Westley who has a weekly column in the Non League Newspaper has spoken about his recent visit to North Hampshire saying, "I went to the Recreation Ground to watch Droylsden take on Aldershot. I have always received a 'warm' welcome there!
"In my Farnborough days, I was the local enemy as we won the race to the Ryman championship.
"I didn't lose my popularity when I went to Stevenage and played my last game as a Rushden manager at the Rec with the usual banter ringing in my ears.
"But for all the stick I have taken at the Rec, it is a great place to go.
"While the fans will let rip at me, they make absolutely sure they get right behind their team.
"I have been there when the home chorus has not stopped for a full half.
"You cannot but admire the advantage that the Aldershot crowd brings."
