The Aldershot Town XI comprised the same personnel as last week's opening win against Brentford - surely a first since joining the Combination. Anthony Charles continued his return to injury, looking sharper than the previous fixture.

John Grant [pictured] scored his first competitive goal for some time after only 3 minutes; Danny Hylton took a quick throw-in down the left which Grant ran onto ahead of the Rangers defenders, clipping the ball over keeper Bulmer from just inside the area.

Shots and Grant were two goals to the good after 8 minutes; Bobby Hopkinson's effort from 25-yards out took a heavy deflection off John Grant's torso, wrong-footing Bulmer and rippling the net.

Anthony Straker gave a strong performance throughout, including foiling QPR's first real chance. Straker patiently blocked the attacker's progress before committing to a strong challenge. But Rangers were stronger opponents than the Bees had been. Twice crosses whizzed across Shots' area as Romone Rose and Matteo Alberti stretched the defence.
