With Rangers having secured an impressive two-all draw against the Saints last week, Kuhl and Newman will be well aware that their defensive line-up will have to be on top of their game to prevent the R's continuing their record of having scored in all of their games so far this season, however more important than the result itself is the news that Dave Winfield will be featuring for forty-five minutes of the match as he makes a welcome return from injury as he begins to work towards re-gaining full match fitness.
Shots manager Gary Waddock will be at the fixture and as well as getting the chance to see Winfield back in action, he will also be keeping an eye on the impressive Junior Mendes who will be hoping to do enough, if selected, to convince that he is good enough to earn a new deal as his contract comes to an end.
Speaking to the local media recently Mendes said, 'It would mean a hell of a lot to me to re-sign with Aldershot, I have a lot of respect for the people in and around the club and management. I've been training hard but the weather has not helped and a few of the Reserves games have been called off so I'm short of match fitness.'
R's player-manager Ainsworth is expected to have Italian midfielder Matteo Alberti at his disposal as he continues his return to fitness having been sidelined for ten weeks following a knee injury. He is however, unlikely to able to have many other of the clubs big named players at his disposal given that the first team have an important fixture against Wolves this coming Saturday.
With no other Totesport.com Combination fixtures due to be played today, The R's would move up to fourth place in the table if they secure all three points while The Shots would find themselves move up to sixth place should they come away with a result.
