Gary Waddock was present to see the first half of the young Shots home fixture against Dagenham & Redbridge in their second league fixture of this Football League Youth Alliance campaign.
The game got off to a very fast start with the Shots taking kick-off, losing possession in the attacking third, the Daggers then moving the ball quickly to find Jay with space just inside the Shots half. Jay was allowed to travel towards the Shots goal, and afforded time to blast a left-footed thunderbolt that had Shots keeper Luke Hutchings beaten - only the bar saved the Shots. This was obviously a wake up call as to the type of game about to take place. Daggers were on a high coming on a very good 5-2 victory against Millwall the previous week.
Shots picked up from last week with some good passing and overall team shape that Daggers found hard to live with, giving freedom to Josh Pearson and Max Worsfold playing in the left and right wide positions providing some quality crosses to the strike partnership of Adam Mekki and George Landais. On 5 mins Mekki receiving a cross, slipping Landais in for a 1v1 with the Daggers keeper Sambridge, only to see his strike hit the legs of the stretching goalkeeper.
