Chris Palmer's Youth Team made the perfect start to the new South West Counties Youth League with a thumping 7-0 win away to Bath City. The Youth League has been split into two divisions this season, with Shots in Division One after their fourth placed finish last season. A mid-season inter-divisional group cup competition divides the League campaign from November.
Shots have retained a number of last year's first year players including Player of the Season and Hampshire Under-18s forward Dan Read; James Powell who made his Aldershot Town first team debut in the Hampshire Senior Cup, and Reserve regulars Ben Finn, Peter Hibbett and Billy Wilson.
At Bath the scorers were Alex Ritson (2), Lewis Phillips (2), Danny Simmonds, Ben Finn and Dan Read - also adjudged Man of the Match.
