Once again, Shots' club assistant Matt Leary was required to fill the breach as no referee could be found in time by the county.
This was a typical local derby with both teams giving their all. The game started at a lightning pace, with both teams playing a good passing game. Both sides went close with long range efforts, which were dealt with by both goalkeepers. On 6 minutes the first goal came and it went to the Shots. Hann played the ball through to Wallman on the left of the box, she managed to pass the ball along the six-yard box, Moore and the Bracknell player challenged for the ball, which came off the Bracknell player and into the back of the net.
The game was going from end to end and neither goalkeeper was getting really tested.
After half time, Bracknell came out the stronger and started to get their passing game together, however the Shots never let them settle and kept hassling and chasing. Again a number of long range efforts were dealt with. The Shots were finding it hard to break out of their own half, but the final ball was letting them down.
Midway through the second half, and finally the Shots stubbornness was broken. The ball was strung around the midfield area, and then a Bracknell player unleashed a shot from 35 yards that beat Calder in the Shots goal to make it 1-1.
The shots were having to defend deeper in their own half and every time they counter-attacked the ball seemed to come straight back at them.
As the game wore on Bracknell were getting closer and closer to taking the lead and with time running out, Bracknell finally broke the Shots heart on 95 minutes, as a free kick from 40 yards out was hit with such ferocity that Calder stood no chance catching the shot, sailing over her and into the net.
Final score 1-2
Andy Analysis
"Disappointing to lose the match, but the girls showed great character and kept plugging away until the final whistle. Amber Marsh has done really well making her league debut for the Shots in an unfamiliar position. We take every game as it comes and the girls can look forward to a break from the league this week with the FA Cup away to Chichester City United.
A big thank you goes to the referee who stepped in at short notice, as the game was just about to get cancelled at 11.00am, due to no referee being allocated.
