While Liddicott's side were without a fixture on the opening day, promotion hopefuls Bracknell Town got their account off to an impressive style, when manager Dave Ward saw his side come away from Buckinghamshire with a comfortable 3-0 victory against MK Wanderers, with goals coming from Siobhan Rideout 2 and Jenni Fryer.
With the Robins having bolstered their already large squad during the pre-season, Ward will be expected to do well this season and although early reports are suggesting that he will only have fifteen of his clubs twenty-nine registered players available with the others being absent through injuries, holidays and illnesses, all of which will come as welcome news to Shots boss Andy Liddicott.
Whatever team Ward selects however, it will certainly not include ex-Shots keeper Hayley Calder who is five months pregnant while the familiar face of ex-Aldershot Town physiotherapist Sue Bowen [pictured top] will also be missing, having only recently got over an illness and she isn't expected to begin training until next week at the earliest.
Regardless of this, Bracknell Town are largely being tipped to be up there pushing for honours towards the latter part of the season - a factor The Shots will be well aware of and Laura Wallman [pictured bottom] will be hoping that her goal-scoring prowess will be a deciding factor in the fixture.
"The whole team are eagerly awaiting the first game of the season, especially after having our game on Sunday cancelled due to Riverside pulling out of the league," she told Stray Shots on Monday evening.
"We are raring to go now and had a very good training session on Sunday."
She continued, "We only managed to gain one point against Bracknell last season and we had two very dubious penalty decisions given against us before half-time.
"We showed our spirit and togetherness in that match though and came out for the second half and outplayed them, pulling two goals back.
"We felt as though we could have had a winner in the dying minutes, but unluckily for us it just never materialised. We will be looking to use that game as inspiration to take us all the way to an opening match three points this time around."
Meanwhile, despite getting off to a winning start, Ward isn't about to take The Shots lightly.
"We gained three points and managed to keep a clean sheet at the weekend but we started the match slow and the players are well aware that they'll need to step up the tempo against Aldershot," he told the site.
"We all know that Thursday's game against Aldershot will be closely fought and spectators should witness a typical local derby where neither set of players will want to end up on the losing side.
"Both teams try to get the ball down and play, and I am sure that there will be tackles flying in as players try to find the edge needed for victory.
"Both games last season were very competitive and closely fought, and I don't expect it will be any different in this fixture.
"My players are aware of what is expected of them and they know the strengths of the Aldershot squad."
Ahead of the match Ward has announced that both new keepers - Emily Cross and Kirsty Robertson may feature at some point while Siobhan Rideout will keep her place having scored a brace at the weekend and Shelley Strange and Holly Collard-Brooks are almost certain to feature.
