The Shots did not impose themselves on the first half but still looked the more likely to score and hit the cross bar. Carrington was causing the City defence problems with Calder not having a lot to do at the other end. Grover was solid in the Shots defence constantly intercepting the City throw balls with ease along with North trying to inspire the team from midfield.
A poor first half ended 0 – 0, with Aldershot coming off the pitching know it was only them that were going to win or lose the game as City showed no signs of being able to beat the Shots.
In the Second half the Shots started to look better and imposed themselves on the game and should have scored. Instead a rare attack and simple pass forward was fumbled and the City striker was left one on one with Calder and slotted the ball home. The Shots worked hard to get a goal back, but as they pressed City counter attacked and a miss hit cross took Calder but surprise and went into the back of the net. City got a third as the Shots went searching for a goal.
Aldershot came away from the game wondering how they lost and what would have happened if they had worked harder from the start. It was not to be and now the Shots can turn there attention back to the league campaign.
