Laura Wallman: Looking forwards to pre-season games.Aldershot Town Ladies begin their build up to the 2009/10 season this Sunday afternoon when Andy Liddicott takes his side to West Sussex for their first pre-season fixture against Crawley Wasps.

With several weeks of training already behind them, last season's top scorer Laura Wallman [pictured] spoke to The Shots this week, saying: "This season our pre-season training has felt like less of a chore and as a team we no longer dread the thought of running one and a half miles around the field as our warm up!

"It actually feels good and we genuinely enjoy ourselves compared to last season and I personally look forward to training every week.

"Andy and Jamie have had us doing some very enjoyable drills whilst still pushing us to work as hard as we can in order to improve our fitness.

"As a team our football skills don't look as though we haven't been playing for a month or so, in fact it is quite the opposite as we were actually playing some really attractive football.

"The signs are looking good for a successful season and I can't wait for the match against the Wasps as it will give us the opportunity to put all of our hard work and effort into a match situation."

Runners-up in last seasons South East Counties Premier League, the Wasps gained promotion and will begin life this season in the tougher London and South East Regional Division and manager Mark Poleykett will be hoping that his side can put in a decent display against their visitors.
