The Shots Ladies continued their pre-season with a fixture against London Region South West side Milford & Witley.
The Shots carried on from where they left off against Godalming and were quickly dictating the game. The Shots came close on a number of occasions in the opening 15 minutes, but the finishing let them down, that all changed on 19 minutes when the ball was pulled back by Wallman who fired into the net. The Shots midfield were constructing chance after chance and, two quick goals from Wallman, and a shot from 25 yards which looped over the head of the keeper from Caz Shepherd made it 3-0 to the visitors with just 22 minutes on the clock.
Stacey Ireland, who was causing all sorts of problems on the right of midfield, had a cross-cum-shot on goal, when she cut in from the right, bypassed the defender and lofted the ball over the keeper. Wallman completed her hat trick on 35 minutes, and the visitors went in at the break five goals to the good.
At half time, Tracey King took over from Hayley Calder in goal. Shots took less than two minutes to add to the score when Wallman again fired home to make it and get her fourth goal of the match. The Shots started to change a number of players around, but this still did not stop the relentless pressure on the home team's goal. On 58 minutes, Nicky Moore's strike partner Wallman fed the ball in, and Moore didn't hesitate to fire into the roof of the net.
Milford & Witley had something to cheer on 59 minutes, when a communication break down between King and a Shots defender, saw Milford's #9 chip the keeper, making the score 7-1 with just over half an hour remaining.
On 60 minutes, Laura Funnell corner found Moore, who played Funnell back in and the left footer swung in a shot from 18 yards to the corner of the net. The Shots' wide players were again causing a number of problems. On 63 minutes the ball came out from a crowded box, Penny Hull controlled the ball well and fired a shot from 18 yards into the back of the net.
From the kick off came the move of the game, when the ball was played back to Grover, found Hull, fed the ball through to Shephard, who drove from the midfield found Moore, who drove a cross in and although Wallman failed to connect, Shephard was on hand to put the ball into the net. Laura Funnell made it 11-1 on 74 minutes when she drove past her marker, fired in towards goal. Wallman tried to touch the ball in, but missed as did the keeper and the ball ended in the net. Carys Potter had the final say of the match by scoring in quick succession on 75 minutes and 80 minutes with two low shots to make the final score 13-1.
Andy's Analysis
"We carried on from Sunday and settled early, some of the passing in the first half was of the highest standard. The only disappointing point of the game was to concede.
We have played three games, conceded two and scored 25. I am especially please with our front two players [Wallman and Moore] who have come on so much from last season.
We have two weeks before the league starts and one more friendly at Bisley to go, we just need to fine tune everything, before we launch into battle for another season."
