This was again a game for all the squad to be involved in; with a limited squad due to holidays and injuries, the Shots had a very young looking side out.
From the start, the Shots seemed to settle the better and soon got there passing game going. A couple off breaks forced Bisley onto the back foot and Hann and Wallman called the Bisley keeper into producing two excellent saves.
On nine minutes, the Shots broke down the left and Shepherd crossed the ball in to a crowded box and with the ball hitting the wet surface it flew in to a Bisley players hand and the referee had no hesitation and awarded a penalty to the Shots. Wallman stepped up and fired into the corner off the net. 1-0 Aldershot.
This spurred the Bisley team on and they started to put the Shots defence under a lot off pressure. After a sustained amount of pressure, the Shots defence was finally broken on fifteen minutes, when a Bisley forward broke free and slotted past stand-in goalkeeper Hana Grover, to make the score 1-1.
This seemed to hit the Shots hard and they started to lose their hold on the game. Bisley again pressed forward and in the final minute of the first half made it 2-1, with a cross to the back post where a Bisley player was standing unmarked to fire home.
In the second half the game started to even out and became end to end football, The Shots came the closest to drawing level when Hann found space, passed it into Kagbo, who laid it off to McDonald who fired over the bar. With seventy minutes on the clock, the Shots again lost their concentration and allowed a cross from the left to find their forward who fired in to make the score 3-1.
Then, three minutes from time and with two Shots players down injured, the Bisley forward carried on and fired in off the post. 4-1
Final Score Bisley Ladies 4 Aldershot Town Ladies 1
Again, this was a good work out for the ladies, the main concern over the two matches is the four injuries we have picked up and it is looking as if they will be long term.
The good points are the younger members are slowly finding their feet with the step up to senior women's football. With a couple of weeks rest period and training sessions to put things right, we believe that the ladies will all be ready for their first Southern Region Premier League game away to Slough Town Ladies on the 9th September 2007.
Special mention must go to Hana Grover and Tasha Meredith who have covered the goalkeeping position well while Calder is recovering from injury.
Shots Team: Hana Grover , Nikki Hargreaves, Tara Coles, Di Smith, Nikki McDonald, Kath Giberson, Stacey Ireland, Danni Shepherd, Laura Hann, Laura Wallman, Crystal Kagbo, Tasha Meredith & Charlotte Frith.
