An entertaining match saw the Aldershot ladies run out 3 - 2 winners against Salisbury City at the Recreation Ground on Sunday, however the match was suspended for three-quarters of an hour during the second half when Salisbury's Nicole Barnes sustained a broken leg after a collision with Shots keeper Hayley Calder.
Aldershot Town took the lead on 6 minutes, a Di Smith corner was converted by Tara Coles, before Salisbury equalised 5 minutes later courtesy of Laura Stone.
Shots re-took the lead courtesy of Laura Hann (on her debut) in the 28th minute. Hann out sprinted two City defenders and confidently out the ball past the on coming keeper.
The second half was then dominated by the Shots, with a Penny Hull goal on 67 minutes culminating in the dominance.
However the match took a nasty turn, when a 50-50 challenge on 75mins by Calder on Barnes left the Salisbury attacker needing medical assistants.
After a 40-minute delay, Barnes was removed in the ambulance, but not before waving to acknowledge the support of the crowd.
The Shots continued to push for a fourth goal to seal the game, but then controversially a penalty was awarded to the visitors in the dying minutes, which was easily converted by Tara Pitman.
In the end a comfortable victory for the Shots. The Shots are now away to Woking in the 1st Preliminary Round of the Women's FA Cup, this tie will be played on Sunday 24th September.
