Aldershot started the brighter and took the game to Southampton, after just 1 minute Laura Funnell driving run and shot was deflected into the back of the net to give the Shots a dream start.
Aldershot kept the game in the Southampton half and created chances for Carrington, Lloyd and Hann, but were denied by an inform Southampton keeper. Hann was making run after run off the defenders shoulders but a flag happy linesman was they only person in the game to deny her a goal.
On the 26th minute the Shots won a corner, Smith put in a perfect cross for the Shots captain North to head the ball into the back of the net.
The second half started with the Shots wanting to build on their lead, Lloyd scored the Shots third with a confident finish to make the game more than comfortable. Southampton had no way back and Calder in the Shots goal had a reasonably quiet game. Hull then scored with a thumping left foot shot and to make matters worse for Southampton Hull then confidently rounded the goal keeper to slot the ball into an empty net.
This was a very accomplished performance by the young Shots who are gaining confidence and maturing with every game.
Aldershot will now take on Andover New Street in the 2nd Preliminary Round on Sunday 8th October at Aldershot Town Football Ground, The Rec. Kick off will be 2pm.
