Shots Ladies 7 - 2 Andover New Street Ladies

Last updated : 11 October 2006 By Stray Shots Team

Aldershot started the brighter of the two teams and were camped in the New Street half for long periods. The pace of the Shots front two Carrington and Hann were causing the New Street back line problems.

New Street had a break away opportunity but Calder was more than up to the challenge and let the New Street striker know with a 50 / 50 challenge that this was going to be a tough game.

After 19 minutes Lloyd who was playing well in her new role on the right wing put the Shots ahead with a left foot strike into the bottom corner of the goal. With this the Shots took the game to New Street creating good chances but just could not score the second. On the 35th minute Smith took a corner which was goal bound but the New Street keeper put it into the back of the net. Ten minutes later a good passing move ended up with Hann scoring the Shots third with a simple tap in.

In the second half New Street came out with nothing to lose and battled. On the 50th minute the Shots backed off the New Street striker and she slotted the ball home. Carrington restored the Shots three goal lead with a well deserved goal. Then two minutes later New Street scored from a deflected shot to make the Shots worry. But that was not the case, Aldershot then started to control the game again, Lloyd scored her second and the Shots 5th, North then missed a penalty after a missed timed tackle in the box.

Coles scored from a trade mark corner from Smith on the 76th minute. New Street then had a player sent off and the Shots new it was game over. Then North made up for her earlier penalty miss when she hit a great shot into the top left hand corner which gave the New Street keeper no chance. The Shots played well in spells but did more than enough to win the game.

These is the Shots first time into the 1st round proper and wait for the draw which will be made on Monday 9th October at 12pm.
