A performance of immense quality from start to finish saw the Reds bag another 3 points whilst also considerably improving their, already impressive, goal difference. Recent results had shown that an improving Rocks Lane were not to be underestimated (having held the league leaders, Elm Grove, to a draw a few weeks ago).
An unfortunate own goal set the Shots on their way before Ben House quickly made it 2. Another own goal and a penalty, converted by Ben, saw the boys comfortably ahead at the break.
H/T 4-0.
The second-half saw Aldershot pick up where they’d left off and they were to bag another 6. First yet another (!!) own goal put the Reds 5 up before George Patten rounded off the move of the match with a splendid 6th. To their credit, Rocks Lane kept plugging away and were rewarded for their efforts when the defence got caught out pushing too far up the pitch, leaving their striker with a 1 on 1 against the hitherto under-employed Shots ‘keeper, Nathan Woolley. It was to prove a mere consolation though as the Reds hit double figures for the 4th time this season by way of further strikes from Ben (completing his hat-trick) and George (with his 2nd) before Tom Bussell and Man Of The Match, George Marchant, sealed victory with their respective 2nd goals of the season.
F/T 10-1.
Great performance lads ; apart from the last 5 or 10 minutes (where it appeared everyone wanted to score) you passed the ball around and held your shape really well. Well done all!!
