The Shots recorded another comfortable win on Sunday against opponents who had caused them huge problems in the reverse fixture played in early October.

It is a measure of just how far the team has improved that this time, there was really ever going to be one winner.

After their customary slow start, the Reds soon began to assert themselves and gained their reward for their increasing superiority midway through the first half when Danny Thompson’s turn and left-footed goal-bound strike was deflected past the unfortunate Bedfont Green keeper. Tom Collman then increased the lead when he lashed a loose ball low into the bottom right-hand corner of the net from the edge of the box. The Reds then had a seemingly perfectly good goal ruled out for offside before a quick-thinking Archie Fawcett tapped a short free-kick to Toby Elstow whose goal-bound effort was touched over the ‘keeper by a Bedfont Green head.

H/T 3-0.

Again, just like the week before, the Reds second half performance lacked the quality of how they finished the first half – in reality, this was probably more to do with the deteriorating weather conditions than any second-half “malaise” which could be construed to be creeping in.

Aldershot did manage another goal when good use of both feet from Ben House allowed him to break free down the left wing and finish with aplomb. The Reds could and should have added to their tally but Bedfont Green managed to hold the score to 4 for the rest of the game.

F/T 4-0.

Patchy would be the best description of the boys today – both individually and as a team. Some notable performances were delivered by Archie at the back, Callum Scott in midfield and also by Reece MacLeay too.

The games are going to come quick and fast now lads – fitness, desire and togetherness will be required !!
