Waterlooville Boys 0 Aldershot Town U11's 5

A thoroughly professional display from start to finish saw the Reds claim their place in the 3rd Round of the Hampshire Cup.

Missing key personnel, this was always going to be a tricky tie to overcome and (when a Waterlooville free-kick clipped the top of the bar in the very 1st minute) the supporters steeled themselves for a nervy afternoon.

Slowly asserting themselves as the half went on, the Shots took the lead through a Dan Bennett drive from the edge of the box.

Danny Thompson soon added a second before a brace from George Patten, effectively killed the tie as a contest.

H/T 0-4.

To their immense credit, and against the wind, Waterlooville made a decent game of it in the 2nd half but could not find a way through the visitors defence – Alex Telfer in particularly beligerent form. Halfway through the second period, an intricate passing move down the right involving Ben House & George ended with a typically assured finish from Dan for his 2nd goal of the game.

F/T 0-5.

The result was all important today lads but what really pleased us most was the way you learned from the mistakes of the previous week. Your attitude was spot on !!

Shots scorers: Bennett 2, Patten 2, Thompson.

MoM: Telfer.
