Fleetwood Left Frustrated As Rovers Crash

The Welsh striker notched his fourth goal in seven matches to give Rovers a second minute lead, but away specialists Aldershot took the points despite seeing Anthony Straker sent off prior to half-time.

"I could have scored in the first 10 seconds, then I got my goal, and after that I was disappointed not to grab a few more and help us get the result we wanted," said Fleetwood.

"We've been trying to get on top of teams at home and we got the good start, but I think the two goals took the wind out of our sails a bit.

"After they got the man sent off we shouldn't have been conceding to 10 men - that third goal was the one that killed us because it allowed them to shut up shop."

Fleetwood was the only fit and available striker for Rovers, but the 21-year-old was not about to shirk responsibility afterwards.

"There were a few tired legs and the games are coming thick and fast, but the squad's good enough to cope with a few people missing.

"We've got some good young lads like Jonathan Smith, who I thought did brilliantly when he came on, and we were good enough to have won the game."

Rovers assistant manager Jamie Pitman was annoyed with the result and what he regarded as a below-par display.

"We feel we haven't really kicked into what we're capable of doing, and that's the frustrating thing at the minute," said Pitman.

"We've missed too many chances and not defended as well as we could have done, and the players are kicking themselves."

He was also unhappy with Aldershot's second goal, when Rovers keeper Ryan Robinson appeared to be fouled by Jonny Dixon.

"We were just asking for a bit of fairness because goals change games," he said.
