Left-sided duo Sean Clancy and Carlos Logan have both arrived at Moss Lane in a flurry of transfer activity today.
The signings followed the departures of Rod Thornley on Thursday and Cavell Coo earlier this week, which had left playing resources severely depleted.
Winger Logan is the most high profile of the pair, having recently been released by Darlington.
Older brother of Manchester City youngster Shaleum, the 22-year-old also started his career at City before moving on to Darlo, where he scored four goals in more than 40 League Two appearances.
Last season he also spent time on loan at Bradford, where he made just four appearances.
Clancy, meanwhile, featured in Southport's unsuccessful Conference campaign last season, while also spending time on loan at Burscough.
He has returned to play in England after a spell in America this summer and turned out for Alty's reserves in their recent game against Bradford reserves, as well as spending time on trial at both Bury and Shrewsbury.
Heathcote said: "I'm pleased with both signings.
"Carlos wanted to stay in the Football League but when he didn't sign up with any club he decided to come here to get some football under his belt.
"He wants to get back into the League and sees this as a shop window.
"But if he can come in and give us a couple of good months then it would be a good deal.
"Sean will be coming in for an initial month so that we can both see if the deal works out.
"He's played in the Conference with Southport so he's a good standard."
Heathcote also tried to bring in another defender on loan but was thwarted in moves for both his main targets.
But the Robins boss hinted his recruitment drive is still not finished and Alty could welcome at least one loan signing by the end of next week.
"I have spoken to two clubs about bringing in defenders on loan," he said.
"But we couldn't meet the wages for one of them and although the other club would've been happy for their player to join us, they were short of cover so kept him there.
"I still want to strengthen the squad though so we could bring in another player on loan after deadline day."
