Rovers Cope With Injuries Ahead Of Shots Clash

Adriano Rigoglioso and Danny Carey-Bertram picked up ankle and hamstring injuries respectively in Saturday's 1-1 draw at Woking, meaning they join fellow forward Mark Beesley (hamstring) on the sidelines.

Tonight's opponents have won all three of their league matches on the road this season, but Rovers assistant manager Jamie Pitman will accept no excuses from the men in black and white.

He said: "It's not an ideal situation but I honestly believe we've got a strong enough squad to deal with injuries this year.

"We're unbeaten in five matches and we haven't had a fully fit squad for any of them, so it's up to everyone to come in and do a job when called upon."

The dearth of attacking options means there will be an even greater emphasis on Stuart Fleetwood to maintain his ratio of a goal every other game this term.

Pitman has been impressed with the 21-year-old Welshman, a summer recruit from Hereford United, who has at times been asked to play on the right side of midfield.

"Stuart is blessed with an abundance of pace, which means he's a great asset playing wide or in the middle," said Pitman.

"I know he enjoys being up front and hopefully he can get on the end of a few chances against Aldershot.

"He's done really well for us but he still has a lot to learn and he will only get better as he gets more used to the way we play."

Rovers have not tasted defeat since the opening day of the campaign, an unfortunate 1-0 reverse at Oxford United.

Three wins and two draws have lifted them to sixth place - two places below the Shots - but Pitman and boss Jim Harvey maintain peak form is still some way off.

"We've not hit our full potential yet, so we're looking to achieve that over eight games in September and see where it takes us ," Pitman said.

Lining up in midfield for Aldershot will be Ben Harding, who became a fans' favourite during a loan spell at Forest Green in 2005-06.

KICK-OFF: Tonight 7.45pm, New Lawn.

LAST MEETING: Forest Green 3 (Nicholson pen, Beesley 2), Aldershot Town 0, Nationwide Conference, January 23, 2007.

HOW WILL IT GO?: A meeting of two in-form sides should be pleasing on the eye, and this fixture normally guarantees plenty of goals. However, the hosts' shortage of striking options means they will have to settle for a third successive Blue Square Premier draw - PETER ORCHARD
