Shots Boss Plots Top-Notch Brace Of Shock Wins

Brown reckons only back-to-back home victories over the Minstermen and Tuesday night's visitors Woking will keep alive ninth-placed Shots' hopes of a play-off place.

The Hampshire club currently lie seven points adrift of a top-five spot and Brown has called on his players to keep their season alive in the next four days following a 2-0 midweek defeat at lowly Tamworth.

But Aldershot will have to meet that challenge without newly-capped Barbados international Louis Soares and former Jamaican World Cup star Marcus Gayle.

Winger Soares is currently sidelined with an ankle problem and ex-Wimbledon Premiership striker Gayle has been out since January with knee ligament damage.

Ex-Birmingham City and Southend United centre-back Andy Edwards, now 36, will also be missing having broken a leg.

Edwards' absence means that Rhys Day, who is also carrying an injury, will probably carry on alongside on-loan Barnet defender Anthony Charles with Aldershot having little back four cover.

With Gayle ruled out, the Shots will turn to top scorer John Grant for attacking inspiration.

Ex-Halifax striker Grant has scored 16 goals in 31 starts this season and will be partnered by former Wycombe front man Jonny Dixon, who has netted four times in his last nine outings.

The Shots go into tomorrow's game with just one win in five matches - a 2-1 win at Crawley last Saturday.

At home, Brown's men are unbeaten in four matches, though, with victories against Grays (1-0) and Burton (3-2) followed by draws with Oxford (1-1) and Rushden (2-2) since a 2-0 reverse against Crawley on January 13.

City have been beaten by Aldershot in both their previous away Conference clashes with last season's match-winner and former Welsh international Darren Barnard still on the home side's books.
