The frustration is that they were not that much better than their struggling hosts. The Celts had a bright opening quarter hour and a storming finish in which they hit the bar twice as they battled for an equaliser to make it 2-2.
Instead they were stung by a third goal from The Shots.
Disappointed Farsley boss John Deacey said: "We had little spells where we were the best side, as did they. I'm not saying we deserved to win but we didn't deserve to lose 3-1.
"It just wouldn't go for us. We hit the bar twice late on when we were pushing them and one of those has bounced down. Some of the players think it crossed the line but no-one will ever know. We have to get on with it."
With Rory Prendergast whipping some testing crosses into the danger zone, Farsley were troubling Aldershot. But the leaders soon found their stride and, with John Grant at the point of many of their attacks, they always looked like scoring.
However, it took them more than half an hour to break the deadlock. They were masters of the rapid counter-attack and it proved very effective.
A foray down the left ended with a Danny Hylton shot. Farsley keeper Curtis Aspden tipped it over his goal but Ben Harding curled the resulting corner in and Hylton netted a glancing header.
There were chances, at both ends, as the game maintained its excitement level but it was the visitors who doubled their lead, when, just after the hour, Kirk Hudson cut into the area and drilled a low, diagonal shot into the far corner.
Farsley were gifted a route back into the match following an error from Shots centre back Anthony Charles. His backpass was under-weighted, Damien Reeves nipped in, rounded visiting keeper Nikki Bull and steered the ball into the empty net.
Then came Farsley's brushes with the woodwork, substitute Steve Torpey finding Dominic Krief in the area but his chip hit the bar and bounced down before David Winfield hacked it away.
Then an 82nd-minute Farsley free-kick inside their own half ended at the feet of Reeves but his shot from the corner of the six-yard box came back out off the bar.
Aldershot also survived a strong penalty claim when a free-kick was awarded to the Celts right on the line of the area.
But in the third minute of the five added on, Hudson fashioned a carbon-copy of his earlier goal to complete the scoring.
