Robin's former defender Chris Blackburn will be facing his old team mates for Aldershot in tonight's Johnstone's Paint Trophy first round tie and his former boss Malpas, believes his fortunes show the importance of regular football.
Michael Pook and Blair Sturrock remain very much on the fringes of things in Wiltshire, with the transfer window now shut until January, but their frustration shows little sign of easing with clubs reluctant to splash the cash.
A loan move for the duo is still an option though with Malpas insisting a move away could help both players' careers.
He said: "I think at the time we agreed going to Aldershot was the best thing for all concerned, Chris agreed as well.
"He had to look after himself and his family but once we got that sorted he has gone away and got a club and is enjoying his football again. I am sure he is desperate to put one over us.
"Players find it hard when they don't play on a Saturday. They find it hard because players want to train all week to play on a Saturday.
"But there are some situations where players won't move because financially it is less beneficial. That is their prerogative but I think what Blacky has done is the way to do it. I think sitting around a dressing room, sitting around a club, and playing bounce games now and again does you no good at all.
"The longer you are out of the game the harder it is to get back in. Pooky and Blair we have been trying to get out but there has been nothing at all."
Hasney Aljofree will miss tonight's clash through sickness but Malpas has assured all Town fans the JPT will be treated seriously.
"Tonight won't come to ability it will come to attitude," he said. "You would imagine 99 per cent of time we would get a result at Aldershot.
"But if we are lacking five per cent in attitude then we will get turned over. They are playing at home, are confident and have just got promotion.
"You only get confidence by winning games and I have to get that into the players. You guys in the press will go on about back to back wins and we can get excited with that."
