What The Papers Say: Peacs Looks To Wembley

Swindon striker Lee Peacock is expected to have to settle for a place on the bench for tonight's Johnstone's Paint Trophy trip to Aldershot but insists no-one should be taking their foot off the gas.

Peacock helped Bristol City lift the trophy a few seasons back in front of a bumper crowd at the Millennium Stadium and knows the rewards that could follow - if they get through the unglamorous early stages.

He said: "I have been in the final a couple of times and managed to score in one of them. It is brilliant and an experience of getting to a final.

"It goes down on your CV as being in a final and winning. It is a chance for the club to make some revenue. It is a fantastic day out for the supporters as well. I love it.

"Personally I would always play my strongest team. At the start people play it down but once you get in the final it is massive.

"I know if we got there we woud fill our allocation easily."

Town halted a slide of three successive defeats with a 2-1 win at MK Dons on Saturday and Peacock believes it is vital they keep the momentum going.

League Two Aldershot, including former Town defender Chris Blackburn, will be confident of a cup scalp in tonight's first-round tie but Peacock insists progress is just as important to Maurice Malpas' men.

"You also want to keep a winning mentality," he said. "I have been in teams in the past where managers have played weakened teams and I have never seen that as the right thing.

"You have to play your full team unless there are people in there who might need a rest.

"But for the sake of people getting a game it can't just be treated as a run out.

"It has to be treated as it is - a game we have to be looking to win.

"The fans come and pay their money and you get a win from that and it is like winning in the league."The confidence is suddenly up and you take it into the next game."
