The Bees lost both of their matches in the past week, including a massive ‘six-pointer’ against fellow strugglers Morecambe at Underhill on Saturday before being defeated by The Shots on Tuesday evening, leaving the Bees with just eight games left until the season – meaning they’ll need to win at least five or maybe even six of them to stand any chance of beating the drop to the Conference.
The day after defeat against The Shots, Paul Fairclough made way for another former manager, Martin Allen to re-enter and he has been handed “mission impossible” until the end of the season.
Allen, who managed the Bees in the Conference some eight years ago, could not have a tougher start though, as Barnet welcome runaway leaders Chesterfield to Underhill on Saturday, but with the Chairman’s backing to do “whatever it takes” to secure League Two status, Allen has already acted to fill the gaps left by two of his three goalkeepers who are suffering from injury, by signing 19-year old keeper Sam Walker on loan from Chelsea.
