Blue Square Premier club Torquay United`s goalkeeper Simon Rayner has joined Blue Square North side Boston United on loan until the end of the season with a view to a permanent move.
Rayner, 24, who moved to Torquay from Lincoln City last summer following a spell on loan last season, has been out of the Gulls side since November. Rumours had been circulating on Shotstalk that he may well be a target for Gary Waddock as Nikki Bull's replacement should the Shots legend move during the transfer window.
"This will give him the chance to play first-team football," said chief executive Colin Lee.
"We feel this is the best scenario for both parties."
Boston recently attempted to re-sign former favourite and appearance record holder Paul Bastock from Rushden & Diamonds, but with that deal falling through, the deal for Rayner was ideally timed for manager Tommy Taylor.
