Tamworth manager Mark Cooper is believed to be the number one target for the Diamonds board but won't get him without a fight.
In a statement released by Cooper, he said, "I'm only six months into a two-year contract here at Tamworth, and have not been approached by any other club regarding a manager's position. Tamworth FC has shown great faith in myself and Richard, and have allowed us to shape and mould a very good squad of players.
"We have some very important Conference League fixtures ahead, starting with Crawley Town away tomorrow. Then in January 2007 the club hosts its first live TV fixture in the FA Cup Third Round.
"It will be one of my proudest moments in football to be the manager of Tamworth Football Club on that day. I can assure the supporters and the officials of the club that Richard and I will continue to work tirelessly for their football club."
