Conference News: Harvey Signs New Deal At Rovers

Forest Green Rovers manager Jim Harvey (who, if rumours were to be believed was on the short list for the Shots job) has signed a new contract which will keep him at Blue Square Premier club Forest Green Rovers until May, 2010.

Close on 300 fans, who were present, cheered wildly and applauded has he put pen-to-paper on Monday evening.

Harvey, who is recognised as the most experienced first team boss at the top of Non League football and now approaching nearly 500 matches at that level, has had a mercurial effect on the fortunes of the Gloucestershire club since his arrival in September last year, when the club was pointless.

"The chairman (Colin Gardner), the board of directors and the supporters have been very kind to me and extending my contract was not a problem," Harvey said.

"This club's highest ever finish in the Conference is ninth and we'll be looking to do better than that next season.

"We're not getting carried away and we know it's a tough league, but I believe we can achieve the same level of performance and momentum we produced in the second half of last season."
