Adrian Cambridge scored the only goal of the game just before the final whistle sending the Histon supporters into raptures.
However, after all the celebrations manager Nick Fallon was quick to point out that this is just the start of the battle.
"There is no question at all that we will be playing part-time football again next season," Fallon told Times Online.
"Putting Histon at risk financially is not something that I'm at ease doing."
Meanwhile, Histon have received a welcome boost with news that Conference chiefs have given the Glass-world Stadium their stamp of approval following a ground inspection.
John Moules and Peter Hunter visited Bridge Road last week and Histon Chairman Gareth Baldwin is very pleased that the ground has now received the required grading.
"The support of the Board and our sponsors Hill Partnerships has been one of the main reasons we have been able to move forward with confidence and complete the essential ground work that will allow us to progress should we achieve the required results on the field," Baldwin told the club's official website.
"It's amazing when you consider that 15 years ago we were wondering how we were going to keep the club going in the Eastern Counties League.
"The support from our volunteers has been the bedrock of the club and their commitment is one of the most pleasing things about what we have achieved.
"With the club now a big part of the local community I really hope that we have given the village a football club to be proud of."
