The 28-year-old joins Graham Heathcote's men after his second spell with Southport, where he made over 70 appearances during his two-year stay.
Heathcote told SAM Sport: "I'm really pleased to sign Chris. He's a strong and tenacious defender and he's still only 28.
"Any good team must be built on a strong defence so with the two signings I have made so far, Chris and Darren Tinson, I think we're well on our way to that.
"We're edging our way towards a strong squad. It's not about bringing in big names, it's about putting together a strong squad.
"If we do that, it's then up to the players to fight it out for a shirt."
