Lippiatt made the announcement after Saturday's home defeat to Oxford United and went on to say that he would stay on for the last two games of the season.
"A very tough decision, as I just explained to John Gibson, [we had] a very amicable conversation," Lippiatt told the club's official website.
"It's right and proper for me to go, it will come out eventually what I am going to do but I can't say anything until maybe this week or next week.
"The only thing to say is I will join a Conference National club but not in the capacity of manager and not in the capacity of being involved in running the team at all.
"The phone call for the other opportunity came yesterday [Friday] and the final decision was definitely made from this conversation.
"I was originally like a see-saw, edging my bets, will I stay, will I go.
"I can talk to Nick [Roddis] and Jason [Laird] because they have been loyal, very loyal supporters to me, but the only person you can talk to is your wife, but the only person who can really decide is yourself and that is my decision."
