Conference News: Meechan Moves To York

Striker Alex Meechan has signed for York City on a free transfer, having been released by Chester City at the close of the 2006/2007 season.

The 27-year-old, who doubles as a competent midfielder, brings the Minstermen's total number of summer signings to seven.

Meechan had previously enjoyed three separate spells at Forest Green Rovers but had trouble breaking into the Chester side after joining them in January.

He has also played for Dagenham & Redbridge, Halifax Town and Leigh RMI, having started his career at Swindon Town
