The Lambs lost out to a single second-half goal in a match which the home side should have put beyond the visitors to the Lamb Ground.
Mills told the club website: "It's three points gone because we didn't take our chances but we'll stay positive and I'm not going to knock the players.
"The last thing this club needs is negativity at the moment."
Mills believes that his side have shown strong character recently as not too long ago relegation was staring them in the eyes.
He continued: "Seven weeks ago the side was heading for relegation and we've moved to within a point of safety since then."
Meanwhile, the Lambs have been dealt another blow with the news that Justin Jackson will not be permitted to feature this season as his application for international clearance has been rejected.
