Conference News: Only A Matter Of Time For Weymouth

Last updated : 30 August 2007 By Stray Shots Team
The Weymouth player/assistant-manager helped his side claim their first clean sheet of the season in a 0-0 draw with Exeter City on Monday and he now believes the key to continuing their upturn in fortunes lies at the feet of the club's strikers.

Stuart Beavon, Jefferson Louis, Stuart Douglas, Conal Platt and Gavin McCallum have all been employed in attack this season but so far none of them have managed to register despite putting in some promising performances.

Browning is adamant their hard work will pay off soon. He said: "The result on Monday should give us a lift and I think once one of our strikers gets on the score-sheet it will give us the confidence to finish teams off. We are playing well and creating chances, and the goals and results will come I have no doubts about that."

The draw at St James`s Park ended a run of three consecutive defeats for the Terras in which they conceded eight goals.
Browning added: "In the days leading up to the Exeter game we worked hard on things in training and the lads brought them off very well.

"We now just need to take that performance and build on it.

"Like I said, I think the lads will take confidence from it and hopefully now we can go on and beat Cambridge United at home on Friday.

"It's all about doing the right things at the right times and cutting out the individual errors and silly mistakes. We have got a way to play and there are no grey areas now and no where for mishaps."

Browning was sent-off against the Grecians for two bookable offences and could now miss the visit of Cambridge.

He said: "I felt very hard done by and I thought the referee was poor.

"It just seemed that every tackle he would book one of ours but he did not do the same for them. He seemed to favour the home side.

"The red card means I will probably miss Friday's game which would be very disappointing but hopefully that won't be the case."
